This could easily be #1 because so many businesses suffer from a lack of a proven lead generation system. It’s the most important part of EVERY profitable business because NOTHING happens until you make a sale. A sale cannot be made without fresh new leads entering your sales process.

Keep in mind that having an actual system in place is different than simply trying one “Tactic” to see if it works.   A SYSTEM integrates multiple tactics and works within your overall sales strategy.   It does not make sense to use one of the tactics below unless you have a solid sales process to convert new leads into new business.

Ideally, businesses should use a combination of both online and offline lead generation systems.   There should also be tracking mechanisms in place to assess the effectiveness of each lead generation tactic.

As mentioned previously, a business that tries these lead generation tactics without having a solid sales process usually end up frustrated.  You MUST be able to convert the leads that are generated!
